Interesting sites

I found Listen to English. This has colloquial listening practice at several different levels. Another useful site is allcinema. Here, you can find out the correct English title of a movie if you only know the Japanese title (and of course vice versa). This is very useful if, for example, you want to write a movie review in English on your blog but you don't know the English title. Another interesting movie site is the interactive tour of the American Film Institute's top 100 movies.

Stories of Monsters (Reading)

Do you know Stories of Monsters, from the Usborne Young Reading series? You can see some sample pages here, and listen to an excerpt here. If you like it, why not borrow the book and CD together?

What's my job?

In the sidebar, you can probably see the Odeo player for listening to a podcast. This is from podcasts in english. Please have a listen, and then visit the podcasts in english site if you enjoy it.

Trailers

I visited English Trailers today. I found out about a new movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, in which he plays a South African mercenary. (His accent sounds pretty good to me.) I also found out that the 5th Harry Potter movie is now being made, and it looks pretty interesting. I remember that the 5th book was the worst of the 6 so I'm looking forward to see whether the movie will be better than the book.

The other place to watch movie trailers is at the Apple site. There are no exercises there, but the choice is much wider. You can check all the movies coming in the next 6 months or so. And while you're at the Apple site, check out the Apple TV and the new commercials!

ESL Podcast

If you found last week's podcasts rather difficult, try this one. They speak very slowly and they have a transcript too.

If you're interested in food, look for dining in the tag search section.
